North Hollywood appears to be in good shape to wear the Sunset Six League boys’ basketball crown. The 16-6 Huskies, who face winless Canoga Park on Friday, are currently undefeated in league play and have a two-game lead on Grant, Poly, and resurgent Van Nuys with five games to play.

But Coach Rob Bloom and his team aren’t celebrating yet, and not just because North Hollywood must play all three pursuers one more time.

The Huskies don’t have great size -- 6-3 senior Jordin Carroll is the tallest listed player. So unless they are facing a truly inferior opponent, the Huskies have to expect close contests.

‘We’re not the kind of team that will blow the doors off,’ Bloom said. ‘We have to find a way to win games.’

For the moment North Hollywood seems to have figured that out. The Huskies are 6-1 in games decided by five points or less.
