Eight years had passed and he never did it.

Until last night.

Ted Hollister, the eight-year coach of Long Beach Wilson boys’ basketball, has finally swept Long Beach Poly. For the second time this season, the Bruins (14-7, 5-2) beat the Jackrabbits (14-7, 4-3) and beat them in crushing style. The first time, it was an overtime triumph on Dec. 19, then last night, it was a buzzer-beating 62-60 victory.

But perhaps the biggest shock wave of the evening was Wilson pocketed sole possession of second place in the Moore League, which Compton sits atop at 7-0.

That probably made Hollister happier than the sweep.
