A season-ending loss by San Fernando to Sylmar has created some uncertainty in the City Section Division I seedings that will be announced on Wednesday.

San Fernando, the defending champion, was likely to be the No. 1 seed. But the Tigers lost to Sylmar, 12-7, after Coach Armando Gomez decided to use his No. 4 and 5 pitchers, plus play a group of seniors who don’t normally get action.

It’s a bad loss, considering how weak the Valley Mission League has been this season. Further complicating the seedings is that Chatsworth and El Camino Real tied for the West Valley League title, and it’s going to take a coin flip to separate them.

San Pedro has won 17 consecutive games and went unbeaten in the Marine League, but the Pirates lost to Kennedy and El Camino Real in nonleague games.

It all means the seeding committee is going to have to do some deep thinking to figure out the seedings.
