Trip to Harrods Costs Woman $1 Million

LONDON — A Middle Eastern woman reported that she lost jewelry worth about $1 million when her handbag was stolen at the fashionable Harrods department store, police said Saturday.
The crocodile-skin bag contained a diamond necklace, a sapphire ring, diamond ring and earrings, an emerald necklace and three gold chains.
A police spokesman said, “The woman felt it was safer to keep her jewelry with her rather than leave it at home.”
The theft occurred Friday while the woman was lunching with her daughter in the London store. She had left the bag hanging on a hook by her table.
