Brown Paces 23 Nadadore Qualifiers

Fourteen-year-old Kim Brown, who competes for the Mission Viejo Nadadores, took first place in the Women’s Open 1,000 Freestyle race in a time of 9:42.16 in the Southern California Swimming All-Star Qualifying Meet held at East Los Angeles College Saturday.
The competition was broken down into four age groups (11-12, 13-14, 15-16, 17-18), with the top three qualifiers in each age group set to compete against an all-star team from Northern California at East L.A. College next Saturday at 10 a.m.
Other Nadadores qualifying for the team:
Pernille Nimb, Kim Brown, Debbie Babashoff, Sharon Eggert, Karin Palle, Stephanie Rosenthal, Christy Carolin, Dara Torres, Jennifer Sprogis, Amy Shaw, Kristin Winn, Melissa Skinner, Ben Jorgensen, Vic Riggs, Luis Morell, Dan Jorgensen, Yoshi Mizumoto, Richard Drewelow, Eric White, Frank Wattles, Mario Fernandez and Mark Yokota.
Other Orange County qualifiers include: Karen Paulitschek and Gary VanBoxtel (SoCal), Dianne Driessen and Jason Cox (Golden West), Janet Evans and Darren Ward (Fullerton), Chap Hundeby (Nova), Joe Gross (Cypress), Kenneth Tse (Saddleback Valley) and Michael Bragin (Anaheim).
