If California officials want to change the boundary between their state and Oregon, they will have to go to court, as far as Oregon Gov. Vic Atiyeh is concerned. After meeting with California Gov. George Deukmejian at the recent National Governors Conference in Washington, D.C., Atiyeh said that an effort to straighten the meandering, 213-mile border was instigated by Californians who claim that the offshore boundary between the two states is off course in Oregon’s favor. “What California wants is more offshore area in case there’s oil out there,” the Oregon governor said. “If they want me to give up something, there’s no room for that.”
