Nation’s Strength

During the inauguaral ceremonies in Washington, President Reagan praised hundreds of young band members and rightfully acknowledged that the true strength of our country lies in our nation’s young people. However, only six days later, Reagan decided to restrict eligibility for loans and grants to college students.
By moving ever so closely to the days in which higher education is reserved solely for the wealthy, Reagan once again demonstrated that he is ready and willing to jeopardize our nation’s strength----its young people. Tom Scanlon La Jolla
