David Weitzner has been named president of marketing for 20th Century Fox Film Corp. effective March 25, when he is expected to leave his current post as executive vice president of Embassy Pictures. Thomas Sherak, who has served as Fox’s president of distribution and marketing since May, 1983, will continue as president of distribution. In a related move, Fox announced the formation of a five-member committee to oversee the studio’s marketing and distribution. In addition to Sherak and Weitzner, the other members will be Fox Chairman and Chief Executive Barry Diller, Lawrence Gordon, president and chief operating officer, and Jean-Louis Rubin, president of the studio’s foreign distribution and marketing.
