Tax ‘Amnesty’ Ends Tonight:Orange County accounted for almost 10% of back taxes collected during the state’s tax amnesty period, a preliminary analysis of receipts shows. The Franchise Tax Board and the state Board of Equalization released the report this week to encourage those who still owe back taxes to pay up before the amnesty period ends tonight at midnight. Los Angeles County residents have paid $26.8 million, accounting for 47.8% of the $57 million in back taxes collected. Orange County was next, at $5.5 million (9.9%), followed by San Francisco, at $3.6 million (6.5%) and San Diego County, $2.9 million (5.2%).
