Two squadrons of French police were dispatched to the French-ruled Caribbean island of Guadeloupe as officials investigated the bombing of a bar in Pointe-a-Pitre that killed one person and injured at least eight others, including four American tourists. No one has claimed responsibility for the explosion at the bar, owned by a member of France’s extreme rightist National Front party. Marie-Josee Aubrey, daughter of the local Chamber of Commerce president, was killed. Hospital officials said the Americans-- two couples from Riverview, Fla., identified as M. Marion and Jane Martz and Chester and Robina Ray-- were in guarded condition with burns.
