Gas Leak Traced to Bus Station or Car Wash
- Share via
Either a bus station or a car wash apparently is the source of leaking gasoline that prompted evacuation of a residential block in West Hollywood last week, county sanitation inspector Carl Sjoberg said Thursday.
Workers should be able to tell today which one was responsible, he added.
The Department of Public Works shut down gas pumping operations at the Southern California Rapid Transit District bus yard on Melrose Avenue and the car wash at Santa Monica Boulevard and Palm Avenue, Sjoberg said. Both are near the 500 block of Huntley Drive, where evacuations were ordered when gas fumes in sewer lines reached dangerous levels.
