AIDS Death Toll at 376 in Europe; Cases Double

ATLANTA — The number of reported AIDS cases doubled last year in Europe, where the death toll has reached 376, U.S. health researchers said Thursday.
In the United States, 4,300 persons have died of acquired immune deficiency syndrome, out of a total of 8,853 reported cases as of March 18, the national Centers for Disease Control said. European medical authorities reported 762 cases of the disease last year, the CDC said.
