President Sees Red at News Conference

Convinced that Reagan tends to call on reporters wearing red, First Lady’s Nancy Reagan’s favorite color, most members of the press corps were wearing something red.
The tactic briefly seemed to work. “Now, Helen, I know that Nancy upstairs would die--she’s watching on television--if I didn’t call on you in that pretty red dress,” Reagan said to the first questioner, United Press International’s Helen Thomas.
