Tim Flannery scored from second base on a 13th-inning error by Cleveland first baseman Pat Tabler, lifting the Padres to take a 7-6 exhibition decision over the Indians on Thursday.

San Diego improved to 3-7 in the Cactus League while Cleveland fell to 7-5.

Flannery doubled off loser Jeff Barkley (0-1) to lead off the 13th and charged home when Graig Nettles’ grounder bounced off Tabler’s.

Greg Booker (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to notch the victory.

The Indians made up a 6-2 deficit with three runs in the eighth inning and one in the ninth off reliever Craig Lefferts. The rally was aided by a pair of errors by shortstop Garry Templeton.

Randy Washington and Butch Benton opened the Cleveland ninth with singles. Washington went to third when Jacoby flied out and scored the tying run when Templeton bobbled a grounder.

San Diego had opened a 5-0 lead in the fourth, sending 10 men to the plate against reliever Jerry Ujdur.

Bruce Bochy and Kevin McReynolds each had RBI singles in the inning. Ujdur walked Al Bumbry with the bases loaded, and threw Tony Gwynn’s grounder over Tabler’s head to allow two runners to score.

Ujdur also uncorked two wild pitches as he retired only two batters.

Cleveland scored its first run in the fourth on Tabler’s RBI double, but Gwynn’s RBI single in the sixth stretched San Diego’s lead to 6-1.
