AMC said it won’t pay executive bonuses for ’84.

The company reported in its annual shareholders proxy statement that it also will not reappoint the ousted head of its French partner Renault to the AMC board. Both moves were expected. In 1984, when Detroit’s Big Three earned nearly $10 billion, American Motors earned a $15.5 million profit, its first since 1979. From 1980 to 1984, AMC lost $622 million. In January, Bernard Hanon was ousted as head of Regie Nationale des Usines Renault, the French government-owned auto maker that controls AMC with a 46.11% stock ownership.
