BANGKOK, Thailand — Officials acting on a tip halted a gasoline tanker truck Monday and found it stuffed with 1.6tons of marijuana ready for export.
Narcotics officials said the truck was stopped just east of Bangkok on the main highway to the resort town of Pattaya, where the marijuana was to have been loaded on a ship. Officers arrested the driver of the truck, which had been under observation for several days.
Police who raided a makeshift rural factory in northeastern Thailand over the weekend found more than two tons of marijuana.
