San Diego Police homicide detectives late Tuesday arrested a 28-year-old San Diego man as a suspect in the fatal stabbing of a Golden Hill man. Police spokesman Bill Robinson said police were called late Monday to the 1300 block of Grove Street where they found the body of Jose Carlos Griego, 28. Griego had been stabbed several times in the abdomen and upper body. Robinson said witnesses reported seeing Griego and another man, James Allen Hope, fighting in the patio area of Griego’s residence. Hope reportedly fled the scene in a small pickup truck. Hope was arrested without incident at 7:42 p.m. Tuesday in an apartment on Clairemont Drive. He was booked into County Jail on suspicion of murder.
