Last Brown Derby Closes Doors
Los Angeles’ last Brown Derby restaurant, located on Vine Street in Hollywood, closed its doors this afternoon. A spokesman for the owner, Walter Scharfe, said Scharfe had been unable to renegotiate a satisfactory lease for the restaurant, which opened in 1929.
However, the spokesman said Scharfe is “99% committed” to reopening the restaurant, including its booths and numerous pictures of Hollywood stars, at another Hollywood-area location within four to six months.
