Funeral Held for Savanna High’s Jeff Eastbourne

The funeral for Savanna High School student Jeff Eastbourne was held Tuesday at the Forest Lawn Mortuary in Cypress. Eastbourne, a football player and weight lifter at the school, died Saturday. Two autopsies were performed on the body by the county coroner’s office, but no cause of death has been determined.

“It’s almost like a crib death,” Savanna Athletic Director Earl Smick said. “The family is devastated not only by the death, but not knowing what caused it. He was a good student and loved by everyone at the school. Our varsity teams will wear some appropriate black armbands or patches in his memory.”

Ram quarterback Vince Ferragamo, who knew Eastbourne, attended Monday’s rites, as did hundreds of Eastbourne’s classmates from the school. Smick delivered the eulogy at the funeral.

Eastbourne was interred at Forest Lawn.
