Letters : Councilman Finn’s Committee Post

An article on March 23 said that City Councilman Howard Finn “won his prized committee post in return for his vote that helped elect Pat Russell as Council President.” That is simply not true. The fact is that I appointed Councilman Finn chairman of the Planning Committee more than three years ago, in 1981, when I served as Council President, even though he had not voted for me for the presidency. I did so because I thought he would be impeccably honest, extremely hard working and eminently fair. And that’s exactly what he’s been.
