The victory was the third straight for the Chargers in the eight-team tournament. Cypress first baseman James Jackle was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player.

In nonconference action:
Mira Costa 6, Saddleback 4--No Spartan had more than one hit, the team’s eight hits--combined with three Gaucho errors--proved enough for the win at Oceanside.
Mira Costa’s John Kohli pitched eight innings for the victory, and Saddleback’s Tim Phencie took the loss.
In the Mesa, Ariz. Tournament:
Pima (Ariz.) 13, Fullerton 12--Mike Cimino’s two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning gave Pima the win in a game that produced 35 hits and seven home runs.
