$1 Million Given for Alzheimer’s Study

Five Southern California medical facilities will be among 10 in the state to share $1 million in grants to study Alzheimer’s disease, the state Department of Health announced.
The grants will go to study the cause of the disease, which affects 200,000 Californians, many of whom are institutionalized elderly. The recipients are the UCLA School of Medicine, the USC Division of Geriatric Psychiatry, the Veterans’ Administration Medical Center in Los Angeles, the Rancho Los Amigos Medical Center in Downey and the UC, San Diego, School of Medicine.
