A railroad engineer from Illinois, the victim of a near-fatal heart attack in October, will become the next recipient of a permanent artificial heart, Humana Inc. announced in Louisville, Ky. The surgery is scheduled for 7 a.m. Sunday for Jack C. Burcham of Le Roy, Ill., a 62-year-old paratroop veteran of World War II. Dr. William C. DeVries will lead Humana’s surgical team in its third implant since Nov. 25.
