Mayor Tom Bradley today proposed a $2.1-billion city budget for the coming fiscal year and said the spending plan would permit the hiring of 100 additional police officers and 92 more civilians.
Bradley said the hiring of the civilians would free 20 more officers for street duty, thus bringing the number of additional uniformed officers to 120. The spending plan, which must be approved by the City Council, is $189.5 million higher than the current year’s budget.
