Denny’s has resumed franchising restaurants.

The La Mirada-based restaurant chain, which has not franchised new restaurants since 1970, said it will resume the practice to spur continued expansion. Only 41 of its nearly 1,200 restaurants are currently franchised, one of the lowest ratios among major restaurant chains. The firm plans to open 50 to 70 franchised outlets over the next year, an official said.
