CERRITOS — The Southeast Regional Occupational Program will hold grand opening ceremonies for its Southeast Career Training Center from 3 to 6 p.m. Friday at Los Cerritos Center.
The career center will offer vocational training and provide assessment and counseling services to federal Job Training Partnership Act participants.
“Having a career and training center at a major regional retail mall to serve the business community and the residents is an eventful first in this area,” said Brian Donahue, ROP director.
Ceremonies to open the center will be sponsored by chambers of commerce in the cities of Artesia, Cerritos, Commerce, Lakewood, La Mirada and Norwalk. These cities, in addition to Bellflower and Downey, are served by the Norwalk-based ROP.
Guests invited to attend the opening include Assemblyman Wayne Grisham (R-Norwalk), state Sen. Paul Carpenter (D-Cypress), Rep. Esteban Torres (D-La Puente) and Cerritos Mayor Diana Needham.
Information about classes, programs and assessment services may be obtained by calling the center at 865-7612 or the ROP at 863-9313.
