College Baseball : Fishel’s Hit Lifts Titans to Comeback Win, 9-7

John Fishel’s two-run double in the eighth inning was the difference in Cal State Fullerton’s 9-7 nonconference victory over United States International University Wednesday at Fullerton.
Fishel, who leads the Titans in RBIs with 51 and doubles with 16, was 2 for 4 with two doubles and three RBIs.
Fullerton (28-25-1) scored four runs in the first inning, but USIU came back with five in the second to take the lead. Fullerton scored a run in the fifth to tie the score, but the Gulls came back with two runs in the sixth to lead, 7-6.
Gary Moeller got his first win, pitching 1 innings. The 6-foot 8-inch Moeller was a reserve forward on the Titan basketball team and was playing in only his third game of the season.

Cal Poly Pomona 7, Chapman 1--Tom Weeks highlighted a six-run third inning with a three-run home run to lead the Broncos to the victory over the Panthers at Hart Park in Orange.
The first-place Broncos improve to 13-3 in conference and 23-21-1 overall, while the last-place Panthers drop to 6-17 and 16-26.
Mike Patterson added four hits for Pomona, while Jim Torchia went 2 for 5 and hit a solo homer in the third inning. Pitcher Mike Munoz went the distance on a seven-hitter and struck out four for the victory.
Chapman scored its only run in the first inning on Craig Kuhse’s RBI double. Kuhse had two hits on the day.
