Reagan’s Visit to a German Cemetery

All this fuss about the President going to Bitburg is ridiculous. He’s going there not to honor a few SS soldiers, but to pay his respects to the thousands of other Germans who died as victims of war; the Jewish people were not the only ones to suffer during World War II.
I’m 28 and did not live during that period in history, but I feel it’s time to move on and realize that Germany today is one of our staunchest allies in Europe. In the spirit of friendship and reconciliation I applaud President Reagan’s decision to go to Bitburg.
It’s about time we Americans demonstrate our friendship and support to the younger generations of Germans who, like myself, had nothing whatsoever to do with events that happened so long ago.
