Business Park in Camarillo Wins Approval

Special to the Times

A plan for a 92-acre, $100-million business park has received City Council approval.

The owner, Tom Leonard of Camarillo, said the business venture will be a full-purpose park built on his agriculturally zoned land now being zoned for commercial-industrial uses, alongside Ventura Freeway north of Ventura Boulevard in central Camarillo.

The plan includes a 41-acre research development complex, a five-acre, 150-room, four-story hotel-motel convention center, shops, a high-tech industrial building, office buildings and restaurants.

In approving the plan, the council requested that Leonard link the rate of development to improved traffic flows as phases of the project progress, and that street improvements be undertaken where necessary.

Leonard said he expects to have the first building ready in about 18 months following final approval of the total development by the council.

Langdon Wilson Mumper Architects of Newport Beach, represented by Jack Camp, designed the project.
