College Softball : Fresquez Leads Hornets to Championship, 2-0

Lisa Fresquez pitched a no-hitter Wednesday as Fullerton College defeated Mt. San Antonio, 2-0, to clinch the South Coast Conference softball championship at Fullerton.
Carla Williams’ two-out single in the first inning drove in the Hornets’ first run and Fresquez drove in Fullerton’s second run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
Fullerton (11-1 in conference and 26-6 overall) begins play in the Southern California Sectional Tournament on May 18.
In other South Coast Conference action:
Santa Ana 3, Cerritos 0--Alani Silva pitched a three-hitter and struck out five to lead the host Dons past the Falcons. Santa Ana, which is 9-2 in conference, set a school record by winning its 32nd game overall against two defeats. Nelinda Berrera and Kelly Winn had RBIs for Santa Ana.
In nonconference collegiate action:
Fullerton 5-2, UC Santa Barbara 0-0--The pitching of Susan LeFebvre and Debbie Mygind and the hitting of Terri Oberg led the top-ranked Titans to a doubleheader sweep of the Gauchos at Fullerton.
In the first game, LeFebvre (20-4) pitched a one-hitter and struck out six. Oberg led the Titan offense by hitting a two-run home run in the fifth inning.
In the nightcap, Mygind (23-3) pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight and Oberg had an RBI single.
Fullerton (46-7) plays No. 3 Cal Poly Pomona Friday in a 6 p.m. in a nonconference game at Fullerton.
