Dornan Aide Gets Post:Gov. George Deukmejian on Thursday appointed Garden Grove congressional staff member Raoul Silva to the seven-member state Athletic Commission. Silva, 59, is a field representative in the district office of Rep. Robert K. Dornan (R-Garden Grove) and ran unsuccessfully against Assemblyman Richard Robinson (D-Garden Grove) in 1980. Before joining Dornan’s staff in January, Silva was a May Co. salesman in Mission Viejo, once worked as a sales manager at a furniture store and had his own trucking firm. Members of the Athletic Commission, which regulates boxing and wrestling, are paid $50 per monthly meeting. The appointment requires Senate confirmation.
