BASTIA, Corsica — Guerrillas have stepped up their latest violent campaign for independence from France, carrying out about 15 bombings Friday night for the second time in a week, police said Saturday.
The bombs, all in the northern part of the Mediterranean island, hit cars, apartments and shops belonging to people from mainland France. No one was injured, but the explosions caused extensive damage.
So far, there has been no claim of responsibility, but police said they believe the attacks were the work of the banned Corsican National Liberation Front.
