The reduction is part of a cost-reduction program designed to minimize operating losses in SEEQ Technologies’ third quarter, which ends June 30, the company said. According to a company official, the work-force reduction will leave the San Jose-based company with about 450 employees and will be accomplished by the elimination of its third-shift operations in wafer fabrication and test operations. The official also indicated that part of the program will involve a shutdown of selected manufacturing and administrative operations during the week of July 1.
