San Diego Franchise to Be Called Buds

SAN DIEGO — The San Diego Team Tennis franchise announced Thursday it will be called the “Buds,” and will play its seven home matches at the Sports Arena instead of at Morley Field in Balboa Park.
Because of the site change, the schedule has been adjusted. The new schedule is: Miami Breakers July 10, Boston Bays July 11, Los Angeles Strings July 13, Chicago Fire July 25, Oakland Aces July 26, San Antonio Racquets July 31 and St. Louis (team is still unnamed) Aug. 3. Matches begin at 7:30 p.m.
Jack Daley, the former managing director of the Sockers, has been named the Buds’ general manager.
