Forty-five children graduated from 9th Street Elementary School, opened last September to serve children living in the Skid Row area of Los Angeles. Principal Michael Jeffers told the graduates in a ceremony in the Harry Chandler Auditorium of The Times that “this is not an end, just a beginning,” that their real goal must be graduation from high school. Students Edgar Ruben Alvarez, Noel Cervantes and Wendy Acevedo also spoke. Another 455 students of the school at 820 Towne Ave. were promoted.
