700 Arrested in Vice Sweep

A citywide task force of 204 officers arrested more than 700 people on suspicion of a variety of vice-related crimes during a three-day sweep that ended early Sunday, Los Angeles Police Chief Daryl F. Gates announced this morning.
Search warrants were served on 10 pornography distributors implicated through an undercover “sting” purchasing operation set up by several of the officers, Gates said. The chief said six of the distributors have links to organized crime.
