VERDEN, West Germany — Six British soldiers were wounded in an explosion during maneuvers in West Germany on Wednesday night, a British army spokesman said Thursday.
He said one of the soldiers had lost both hands and another one hand in the blast, which occurred while they were cleaning up at the end of the exercise, at Schwarmstedt, 25 miles southwest of Verden.
The other four received minor injuries and all were hospitalized, he said. The cause of the explosion is not yet known.
