Miss Liberty to Carry Torch for a New Flame

NEW YORK — A team of French artisans Tuesday began hammering sheets of copper to build a reflective gilded shell that will be the flame in the Statue of Liberty’s new torch.
The workers, employees of Les Metalliers Champenois, worked from a model based on photographs of the original 19th-Century design for the flame.
