Musical Honors for Pasadena

The Pasadena Chamber Orchestra has commissioned its composer-in-residence, Dr. Donald Crockett, to create a work in honor of Pasadena’s centennial next year. Crocket, a native of Pasadena, is also a member of the USC music faculty.
“The Tenth Muse,” an orchestrated cycle of poems written by women, will be performed July 17, 1986, as a part the orchestra’s Centennial Concert at Ambassador Auditorium.
Soprano Juliana Gondek, also a Pasadena native, will join the orchestra in the premiere of the composition.
The concert will open Centennial Week in Pasadena, which is part of a seven-month celebration being planned by the Pasadena Centennial Coordinating Committee.
