Strings Lose, 28-22, in Tennis Playoffs

The St. Louis Slims defeated the Los Angeles Strings, 28-22, Tuesday night in the first round of the TeamTennis playoffs before 396 fans at the Forum.
St. Louis advanced to the semifinals against the Miami Beach Breakers on Thursday in Miami when the mixed doubles team of John Mattke and Candy Reynolds turned back Steve Denton and Anne White, 1-0, of the Strings in the overtime period.
