The widow and six children of Kevin Cassedy, who was killed along with 133 others in the Aug. 2 crash of a Delta L-1011 outside Dallas, sued the airline and Lockheed, manufacturer of the wide-body jet, for unspecified damages in Los Angeles Superior Court. The civil suit filed by attorney Daniel C. Cathcart claims airline representatives “wantonly and recklessly” flew the plane “through thunderstorms, heavy rain showers, and areas where violent wind shear could be anticipated, knowing that such conduct could cause a loss of control of the aircraft and death or injury to those on board.” Local spokesmen for the defendants had no comment on the suit. The plane was en route to Los Angeles from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., with a stop scheduled in Dallas.
