Alexis Arguello, intent on claiming one more championship, resumed his boxing career with a six-round exhibition at Lowell, Mass., against local pro Manny Madera.
Arguello, a former three-time champion who went into retirement after a loss to Aaron Pryor in September, 1983, appeared taut at 142 pounds. The 28-year-old Nicaraguan had little trouble maneuvering his opponent for familiar combinations and short right uppercuts.
Arguello, who has a 78-6 record, including 23 title fights, is scheduled to fight Andy Nance in Anchorage, Alaska, in mid-September.
