Players, Cheerleaders to Appear in Commercial
Football players and cheerleaders from Cal Lutheran College are featured in a commercial produced by an Oxnard television station.
The entire cheerleading squad and portions of a Kingsmen football practice were filmed by a KTIE-TV production crew Thursday for an advertisement sponsored by a Thousand Oaks automobile dealership.
Dia Wolfe, producer of the commercial, said the ad is designed to convey the excitement and optimism surrounding the beginning of football season.
Valley College Star Named to Hall of Fame
Southern Californians dominated the list of new inductees to the Community College Football Hall of Fame, with AlL-American lineman Hardiman Cureton heading the roster.
Cureton earned All-American honors while playing for Valley College in 1952. He repeated the honor at UCLA in 1955.
In 1956, Cureton signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League, where he played defensive tackle. His professional career was in Canada, ending in 1964 with the Hamilton Tigercats. Cureton, considered one of Canadian football’s most versatile athletes, made the all-star team five times at four different positions. He still lives in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.
Former Los Angeles Ram Fred Dryer and former San Francisco 49er Joe Perry were also inducted. Dryer was an All-American at El Camino College, while Perry played for Compton College.
Jackson Brothers Continue Tour
The Jacksons hope to stage a victory tour of another kind when they meet Atlantic Releasing in the second game of the best-of-three Entertainment Softball League World Series Saturday at 10 a.m. at Balboa Park in Encino.
Four of the six Jackson brothers will play in the game--Jackie, Tito, Marlon and Jermaine.
The Jacksons won the first game of the series last Saturday, 9-2.
Pulde, Grose to Race in Keystone Nationals
Funny car racers Dale Pulde of Granada Hills and Tim Grose of Saugus will try to catch National Hot Rod Assn. point leader Kenny Bernstien of Dallas, Tex., this weekend at the first-annual NHRA Keystone Nationals in Maple Grove, Penn.
Qualifying begins today, with eliminations on Sunday.
