Raul Vargas to Be Cited as Hispanic of the Year

Raul Vargas, director of the Office for Mexican American Programs at USC, will be honored as Hispanic of the Year at the sixth annual National Hispanic Scholarship Fund awards dinner on Sept. 26 at the Century Plaza.
Also to be honored are Jesse Aguirre of the Anheuser-Busch Corp. for corporate achievement and Cecilia Sandoval of the Hispanic Women’s Council for exemplary leadership.
The $175-a-plate dinner is open to the public. Reservations may be made by calling Charlotte Arrick at (213) 975-5359.
The National Hispanic Scholarship Fund has given more than $2 million to outstanding Latino scholars since its inception 10 years ago.
