Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Chuck Tanner said he didn’t know his players were using drugs in the early 1980s. A number of former Pirates have been implicated in testimony at the current cocaine trial in Pittsburgh.

“I never suspected it was going on,” Tanner said. “If I had, I would’ve stopped it. My coaches were out there (in the clubhouse). My trainers were out there. If they had seen it, we would have stopped it.”
