Get the Name Right

As a sometimes book reviewer, I usually take the comments of letter writers who differ with the opinions of your reviewers with a grain of salt, knowing full well that even the best reviewer will bring a certain amount of bias to a review. However, after reading L. Scott Tomchak’s review of “Jane Wyman” (Book Review, Sept. 1) I’m not so sure.
“Falcon Crest’s” Amanda Channing? That is like calling “Dallas’ ” J.R. B.J.! Obviously Tomchak isn’t a “Falcon Crest” viewer or he would know Jane Wyman’s character is Angela Channing. He has broken one of the elementary rules of journalism--Get the names right--and nobody in the entire Times machine caught it. For shame.
