THE COUGAR’S MEOW

There is nothing Springsteenesque about John Cougar Mellencamp’s music (Record Rack, “Mellencamp’s America,” by Terry Atkinson, Sept. 8). All of it is pure John Mellencamp. Sooner or later, Terry Atkinson, you have accept the undeniable fact that Mellencamp can sing Bruce right into the ground, and has a better band to boot.

The only true statement in your stinking, cowardly review was that “Scarecrow” will sell zillions of records. Gawd, I hope so.
