The man who was shot and killed in an exchange of fire with San Diego Police narcotics officers Friday night has been identified as David Lloyd Wulk, 39, of 2171 Sunset Cliffs Blvd., where the shooting took place.
Undercover officers were attempting to serve a search warrant at the residence, after receiving information that there were illegal drugs inside, a police spokesman said. Wulk then reportedly fired several shots at the officers with a .45-caliber automatic pistol, hitting one officer in the chest, and another in the hip. However, the officer who was hit in the chest was wearing a protective vest and was unhurt, and the other officer was not seriously injured.
Three officers returned six shots at Wulk, hitting him in the chest.
Searching the home, police found a box containing $6,000 to $7,000 in cash, 60 to 70 small balloons believed filled with cocaine, some precious stones, marijuana and five guns. Five other suspects at the house were arrested.
