The $11-million, 130,000-square-foot Pacoima Plaza, the community’s first private commercial development since World War II, is fully leased, according to Herbert M. Piken, president of the Piken Co., Studio City-based developers of the project at the northwest corner of Glenoaks and Van Nuys boulevards.
Tenants of the nine-acre project include Boy’s Markets, Thrifty Drug & Discount Stores, J.J. Newberry, National Dollar Store, Trak Auto, Payless Shoes, Larger Sizes Store, Spudnuts, Burger King and Pioneer Take-Out.
Long neglected by shopping-center developers, the project took a major step toward construction when Boy’s Markets agreed to become an anchor tenant of the center and a general partner with the Piken firm. More than $2 million worth of federal funding was obtained, along with private funding from Security Pacific National Bank.
