Hospital Address Indicates Loyalty

It was interesting to see Lorraine P. Auerbach attempt to defend the “commitment” to Compton of the Dominguez Medical Center (Letters, Southeast/Long Beach sections, Nov. 3). I noted that in her letter she never denied making the statement that “Compton has a negative image.”
That is the problem. The article in the newspaper was accurate. The administration of the Dominguez Medical Center changed its address because it did not want to be associated with the city of Compton.
In my opinion, there is no way that they can rationalize or explain that decision. If they were really committed to the Compton community, they would have changed the name to “Compton Medical Center.”
